How to Make a Cake Pedestal

How to Make a Cake Pedestal

A spectacular cake can be the center of a celebration and it deserves a spectacular display. When you make a deceptively easy cake pedestal on which to showcase the delectable dessert, you can turn it into the literal centerpiece with a little greenery or a few flowers. With a little imagination, your pedestal can also add a little whimsy to the table. Whether you make a permanent stand or use the elements to create a single-use display, you can impress your friends and family with your creativity and ingenuity.

Instructions

Stemmed Pedestal

    1

Clean the candleholder and plate with window cleaner to remove oils that might interfere with the glue.

    2

Apply epoxy around the top of the candleholder, according to the manufacturer's instructions.

    3

Center the plate on top of the candleholder and press it to adhere them together. Allow the glue to set completely.

    4

Arrange flowers and greenery around the base of the pedestal.

Bowl Pedestal

    5

Fill the bowl or snifter with soil and small plants, with water and a beta fish, with silk flowers or with small glass ornaments in colors to complement the cake decorations.

    6

Attach foam adhesive to the rim of the bowl, if desired. It isn't necessary, but it can help prevent slippage.

    7

Center and affix the plate on the bowl.

    8

Remove the plate and foam after the party.
