How to Remove Melted Wax From Wood Coffee Tables

How to Remove Melted Wax From Wood Coffee Tables

Melted candle wax on your wood coffee table may seem like a disaster, but it's actually fairly simple to remove. Modern wood tables are usually coated with polyurethane, a durable, hard finish that protects the table from scratches and stains. Remove the wax as soon as possible, especially if it is a dark color, to prevent dye from bleeding into the wood. Use this method for removing chewing gum, as well. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Place two or three ice cubes in a bag and hold the bag against the candle wax to harden it. Wipe up any water with a dry cloth to prevent water spots.

    2

Scrape the wax gently with a plastic spatula or scraper to loosen the hardened wax. Avoid scratching or gouging the wood.

    3

Apply a thin coating of paste wax to protect the furniture surface and restore its lustrous appearance. Wipe the wax on with a clean cloth and buff it to a shine.
