How to Fix Table Height

If you've determined that the height of your table is too high or too low, you can fix this issue in a few different ways. Generally your table should be at a comfortable height based on the height of a person sitting in the accompanying chairs. If the table is too close to a person's legs it can be uncomfortable, and if the table is too high a person could strain to sit at it and eat or work. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Find out exactly how your table needs to be adjusted. If you want to lower your table, for example, measure from the floor to the point on your table leg where the new bottom will be. Make a mark on the table leg so you know where to cut. Make a mark on the rest of the table legs at the exact same point so all legs will be cut evenly. If you're raising your table, measure from the top of the table to the point where you want your new height to be and find out the distance in inches.

    2

Use a saw to cut your table legs to their new desired height (if you're lowering your table). If your table legs are removable you can cut them using a standard table saw. If they're not removable, you may have to put the table on its side and use a table saw to perform the cutting.

    3

Install one table leg extender on each of the legs of your table. Table leg extenders are typically made of metal and can be adjusted in one inch increments. Place the table leg extenders on the legs of the table and adjust them to your desired height.
