How to Create a Foosball

How to Create a Foosball

The foosball table game is practically a staple of college dorm common areas and fraternity houses, though foosball has quite a long history. It originated in Europe, patented in Great Britain in 1922 by Harold Searles Thornton, who was inspired by the popularity of football in Europe. The game took root in the United States in the 1950s, and it reached its popularity height in the 1970s. Foosballs are made from a variety of materials, including cork, sponge rubber and wood grain. You can create your own version using the center of a peach.

Instructions

    1

Take the pit out of a peach and set it in the sun to dry. Allow it to dry for one to two days, depending on the season and sun intensity.

    2

Sand the two pointed ends of the pit with rough-grain sandpaper. Sand the rest of the pit as well to create a smoother surface, though textured foosballs help slow the game down for beginners. Use the paper over any protruding bumps as well.

    3

Paint the pit if desired or leave as is. Paint it one solid color, "team" colors or patterns and designs if desired.
