DIY Pedestal for a Candleholder

DIY Pedestal for a Candleholder

When you are hosting a dinner party or celebratory event at your home, you can make the event more elegant by lighting candles on each table. However, you may not want candle wax to drip onto your tablecloths from the candleholders. One solution is to use candle pedestals underneath each candleholder to prevent wax from dipping. Although you can buy candle pedestals at any home decorating store, save money by making your own using basic craft supplies. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Cover your work area with newspaper, and place an empty soup can onto the newspaper.

    2

Cover the outside of the soup can with tacky glue, and then wrap fabric around the soup can. Allow the glue to dry for 30 minutes, then trim off the excess fabric using scissors.

    3

Squeeze lines of glitter glue around the edges of the can, effectively camouflaging the edges of the fabric.

    4

Squeeze glitter glue into patterns, such as swirls, spirals or zigzags, around the surface of the fabric.

    5

Squeeze pea-sized dollops of glitter glue around the surface of the fabric, and then press plastic jewels onto each glitter glue dollop. Allow the glitter glue to dry for 30 minutes.

    6

Turn the decorated soup can upside down an place the candleholder on top of it.
